I am LeGrand (pronounced simply ‘luh-grand'), I write music and sing. Most of what I’ve done in life is entrepreneurial. Raised in Colorado, my first gig was serving as roadie for my mother’s one woman show and working as all-around-lackey for my older brother’s recording studio. My mother's singing, my brother's piano, jazz, old musicals and Ackerman’s Windham Hill were often in the air about this time.

I later moved to Northern California, where the guitar arrived for the first time and with it came a return to musical roots. The songs revealed here in this self-published debut album called Thoughts Along the Way are simply the result of life experiences colliding with music over the last few years.

At times it is deeply personal and sober and at others it is ardently curious or just playful. If my music resonates with you, feel free to let me know. It means we share a bit of community and connection.

We recorded at Basement 3 Productions in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Northern California where Kenny Schick, produced, mixed, and mastered. He also performed the guitar solos, the saxophone, and backup vocals.  Thanks to Sabine Hauser-Schick and Mary Stewart Porter, for sharing your voices and to Kristin Garbeff for the cello.   Thanks to Ralph Martian, Sabine and Kenny for all collaborating to make the album cover.   The remaining photography is the work of Peter M. Lewis.
